Not that I've got nothing to blog about, just that time doesn't permit me to do so nowadays. It's either I'm too busy at work or I'm too tired when I got home. What's the point of having a blog if I don't update right?

Btw, that "Hello" there was typed by my hubby. 'Itchy-fingers' likes to 'sakat' (annoy) me like that...

For the past few days, I've received numerous smses and calls from students of Yuying, ex and present. Most of them had asked me whether I've heard about the tragic news - the passing away of a Yuying student, whom I didn't teach but had known. I'm talking about Zaid of course...

When I first heard the news from FQ, the first thing that flashed through my mind was his ready smile and his never-fail-to-salam-and-kiss-my-hand gesture whenever he met me. I would always tease him of his sweaty nose which rubbed against the top of my hand whenever he extended his respect for me. I'd always remember his put-on frown and his sudden smile when being teased. We had worked quite closely, when FQ, him and myself were involved in the school musical, Metamorphosis in 2005. He was one of the leading characters in the musical as he had tremendous talent and shown great commitment during the rehearsal and more so on the actual day. He delivered a wonderful performance that moved some of us teachers to tears.

He was taken away at such a young age. I read about the tragic accident that took his life in the newspaper and only realised that it was his first day as a delivery boy for a pizza company. It was also his last delivery for the day.

I think about those 'poor' boys/men, who had to labouriously work, part-time, after school or after work, as a delivery person for fast food restaurants, risk their lives everyday while on the job. I could only pray that these riders would be more careful. I can't blame them for their 'rush' as they earn their commission on the number of deliveries they make. But I'd also ask this question, is it worth risking your life to rush like that?

There are/were so many reported cases of such accidents involving delivery boys/men nowadays. I'm sure there are many other unreported ones. I really feel for the family of the victims, more so the mothers. I can't imagine losing my child that way, I just can't. I'd die...

To Allahyarham Zaid...Al-fatihah...
